A poached pear is a light and elegant way to finish a meal. This recipe is good for a busy household, because, the pears can be poached up to a week in advance and just left in the poaching liquid. For a light dessert after a large meal serve half a pear, or serve a whole pear after a light meal.
Serves 10
5 each Anjou Pears (hard pears work best)
1 bottles Riesling
1 each Cinnamon Stick
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
1 cup Cane Sugar
1 each Lemon, cut in half
- Peel and core the Pears.
- Place pears in a pot with the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer.
- Allow to simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool in its poaching liquid.
- Serve chilled with your favorite dessert sauce.
